The last weapon in Battle of Lugarness can be as close as the pantry of your kitchen.
common domestic vinegar - Used to make the dressings or podes of oil and vinegar salad - seems to light genes that help fight fat, researchers in the Japan report.
Vinegar has been annulled as a healing - all for many evils. The substance has been used a folk remedy from ancient times. Modern medical evidence is slowly adding credibility to some of the claims. In recent years, research has suggested that the main chemical in vinegar, called acetic acid, can help control blood pressure and blood sugar. Current findings suggest that vinegar can help a person losing weight or combat obesity. Tomoo Kondo and colleagues gave acetic acid or water to rats through a stomach tube. All were provided a high-fat diet to eat normally.
The researchers found that rats have developed much less body fat (up to 10% less) than the rats that did not receive the vinegar compound. The amount of foods consumed by the mice was not affected. It is believed that acetic acid becomes genes that produce proteins that help the body breaking fats. This action helps prevent the accumulation of fat in the body and frustrates weight gain.
The discoveries are scheduled to be published in July 8 July 2009 edition of the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry.
