Sometimes it does not look fair. It looks like women can just look at a decadent dessert and feel our hips widening while every man has to do is cut some portions and watch the numbers on the fall scale.
Why do men lose weight faster than women? Or is this just a myth? Just for fun, we decided to take a look at the sexual differences - real and perceived - in the wars of weight loss.
A big difference between the sexes is in food preferences, according to Katherine Tallmadge, RD, the simple diet author. "Men love their flesh, and women are attached to carbohydrates," she says.
This does not mean that a type of power has the edge, however. "I individualize the power plans to allow men and women to enjoy their preferences for carbohydrates or proteins, providing they select the healthy versions," says Tallmadge, who is also a spokesperson for the American dietary association. Another difference Tallmadge sees into practice it is that women tend to be quite well informed about food and calories while men do not think much about nutrition.
"As soon as men start paying attention to healthier eating choices, they tend to get quick results," says Tallmadge. Call the luck of beginner!
There are some weight loss tricks that work equally well for both sexes, she says.
Both women and men jumping breakfast usually get quick results when they add a healthy breakfast in their plan, watch Tallmadge. "I also advise everyone to divide their food plans also so that a third of their calories be eaten before lunch."
