Weight Loss Drink Dr Oz - Drink Water Before Meals to Lose Weight?
Drink about 16 ounces of water 30 minutes before meals can help with weight loss for obese adults, new surveys suggest.
The results of the small study need to be confirmed in larger essays, however, the researchers at the University of Birmingham at U.K.
The study team recruited 84 obese adult volunteers through their doctors.
All received a weight management query that covered changes in lifestyle, best diet choices and the benefits of more exercise.
Then the researchers randomly divided participants into two groups. They asked a group of 41 volunteers to drink 500 milliliters (about 16 ounces) of water half an hour before meals. Sparkling water, carbonated drinks or sugary drinks were not allowed.
The other 43 participants were advised to imagine they were filled before eating.
After being traced for 12 weeks, with a telephone query after 2 weeks, the water group before meals lost an average of 2.87 pounds more than those who just imagined being full.
People who loaded in the water before all three major meals per day have lost an average of 9.48 pounds. By doing this only once a day, or nothing, it resulted in an average loss of 1.76 pounds.
The discoveries are published in obesity magazine.
"The beauty of these findings is in simplicity. Only drinking a liter of water, three times a day, before their main meals can help reduce their weight," says Dr. Helen Parritti, one of the authors of the study, In an affirmation. "When combined with brief instructions on how to increase your amount of physical activity and [get] on a healthy diet, this seems to help people achieve some extra weight loss - a moderate and healthy rate. It's something that does not take much work to integrate into our busy everyday lives. "
The study team now wants to continue research on a larger trial with more volunteers.
