Calcinourina inhibitors. Your doctor can prescribe these instead of a steroid cream. These creams and ointments block chemicals that can make their reflection of eczema. They are particularly used to treat eczema on your face, including your eyelids, neck and skin folds. See a slide show to see the types of eczema treatment.

phototherapy (ultraviolet light therapy). This can help if your eczema is moderate to severe and creamy drugs did not work. Keep in mind that using this type of treatment for a long time can increase your chances for skin cancer. See a slide show on the benefits of light therapy.

Skin care for facial eczema

moisturize. The best way to keep your skin from drying is with thick creams (Cetaphil, Eucerin) and ointments (aquaphor, vaseline), not with finer lotions. The best time to do this is soon after washing your face. If the ointments are very greasy to your face, try to use them just at night.

Clean gently. Soap can irritate your skin, but washing with water alone may not be enough, especially if your face is oily. Use a smooth non-soap cleaner or a medical emollient. Pat dry with a soft towel.

Observe the temperature. Use only cool - not hot - water on the face, and as long as possible.

Skip the makeup. Do not use cosmetics on irritated skin.
